Ladies and gents, spread the word because this news slipped under the radar: If you’re in Hawaii and a fan of giant monsters and/or hot-blooded action, then keep your eyes peeled tonight at around 6:30. Because KIKU-TV revealed that for this week and the following Friday, they’ll be airing two episodes of ULTRAMAN LEO.
The episodes in question are Episode 1, “Seven Dies! Tokyo Is Sinking!”, and Episode 2, “Great Submersion! The Last Day of the Japanese Archipelago”. They form one hell of a two-part series opener: Ultraseven being forced to go up against two monsters who will sink Japan if they aren’t stopped, the appearance of our titular hero, one of the most insane training montages ever, and grand-scale destruction in one of the greatest Ultra Series moments ever. Leo still stands as one of my favorite Ultras and these two episodes are the pinnacle of the series.
There’s been no official word yet on whether or not they’ll be airing the rest of the series, but it’s pretty much guaranteed to be subtitled in English. This is huge because A.) This is the first time Leo’s being shown in English, and B.) This raises the question (if it does get a full broadcast) of whether or not this is preceding some kind of release from Generation Kikaida. Well that and it also has me asking whether or not they had to go through Chaiyo or if this is a purely Tsuburaya affair. The latter would be awesome.
While I don’t want to get too excited just yet, if you have the opportunity to do so, watch ULTRAMAN LEO tonight at 6:30 PM on KIKU-TV! You won’t want to miss it!
